Maria Dubik Teaching Piano
I am a pianist, concert organist, composer, and musicologist with over 10 years of teaching experience. My extensive musical background and perfect pitch support my personalized approach to teaching. My lessons focus on sight-reading, music theory, piano technique, and musical expression, helping students develop their skills and confidence at the piano.
Lessons are held online via Zoom or Google Meet and tailored to each student’s level, interests, and goals.
I look forward to helping you develop your piano skills!
Asking questions outside lessons
Yes, of course! Students can contact me with questions outside of scheduled lesson times via Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp. I'll reply as soon as possible :)
How to pay
I accept PayPal. After the first lesson, all subsequent lessons are paid for in advance in packages of 5 lessons.
Lesson structure
My lessons are structured around three main areas: piano technique, sight-reading and music theory, and repertoire.
A typical lesson begins with reviewing previous assignments and addressing any difficulties. We then work on technical exercises, develop sight-reading skills, explore relevant music theory concepts, and work on repertoire.
Lessons are highly interactive, with students spending most of the time actively playing. I explain concepts, demonstrate techniques, and provide guidance whenever necessary.

Practice materials
Yes, I provide practice materials tailored to each student's level, needs, and goals. These may include sheet music, technical exercises, sight-reading materials, and music theory tasks. Practice assignments are given regularly and are an important part of the learning process, but the amount of work depends on each student's schedule and goals. I also review completed work and provide feedback to help students improve.
Progress reports
Yes, I keep parents informed about their child's progress through regular feedback. I provide updates on skills development, repertoire, sight-reading, technique, and areas that need improvement. Progress is assessed continuously during lessons based on the student's achievements, confidence, and ability to apply new skills independently.
Refund policy
My refund policy is as follows:
- If a student misses a lesson without prior notice, the lesson is considered completed and is not refundable.
- If a student decides to discontinue lessons and has prepaid lessons remaining, I will refund the payment for the unused lessons via PayPal within two weeks of receiving the cancellation notice.
- If I am unable to continue lessons due to an emergency or other unforeseen circumstances, I will arrange a refund for any unused prepaid lessons.
Teaching approach
My teaching approach combines practical piano playing with music theory, ensuring that students develop both technical skills and a deeper understanding of music. I place particular emphasis on sight-reading, proper technique, musical expression, and independent learning.
I adapt the pace and methods to each student's individual needs, learning style, and goals. If a student learns quickly, I introduce more challenging material. If something is difficult to understand, I explain it in different ways, demonstrate it, and provide additional exercises. I believe that patience, consistency, and a supportive learning environment are essential for effective progress.
Teaching materials
I use a variety of teaching materials, including classical piano methods, technical exercise collections, sight-reading books, sheet music, and music theory resources. These also include my own original exercises and specially prepared assignments tailored to each student's level and goals. My exercises have been tested in practice and have demonstrated their effectiveness in helping students achieve progress.
Lessons are conducted online via Zoom (or Google Meet). Students need a piano or digital keyboard and a stable internet connection.
