I have over eight years’ combined experience of teaching adults and children of all ages at the University of Edinburgh, at York Minster, and privately. During my university career I also spent a decade volunteering as a one-to-one student mentor for Widening Participation schemes and was a tutor for the Sutton Trust. I am a certified Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (now Advance HE) and hold a PhD in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh. Due to my education and teaching experience, I have excellent written and communication skills. I am keen to pass on my expertise to the learners who need it most, so they are empowered to reach their full potential.
I am passionate about helping people to overcome personal barriers. If English is your second language, if you have dyslexia, or if social anxiety affects your ability to participate in larger groups - I can help. I am especially sensitive to the impact of chronic illness on the experience of education and possess the necessary patience and understanding to help you overcome these difficulties.
I teach remotely using Skype, Teams or Discord. I also offer support in between lessons via WhatsApp and email. For those who struggle with social anxiety, I am perfectly comfortable making calls without video and am happy to make any other adjustments possible.
I offer the following sessions:
Time Zone: I am located in the UK and work according to Greenwich Mean Time hours, which means I am available to teach from 3pm-9pm Singapore Time. I am usually only available Monday to Friday, but if you are keen to enlist my help and are only available on the weekend I may be able to accommodate your schedule.
I am an experienced and conscientious teacher with a passion for English, literature and tailored learning. I carefully assess each individual’s strengths and weaknesses, then design a personalised plan for progress. I build up my students’ confidence and help them rediscover the joy of learning.
